Corelis Selects FlexNet Publisher for Licensing Distribution

New licensing platform provides more flexibility over software deployment.

Cerritos, CA, November 3, 2009 – Corelis, Inc., a leading supplier of high-performance boundary-scan test and measurement tools, announced today that it has chosen Flexera’s FlexNet Publisher® as its primary licensing tool for all of its software products. FlexNet Publisher represents over 20 years of research and development in addressing the licensing requirements of both users and publishers of software applications. The FlexNet Publisher licensing system translates into a greatly increased capability of Corelis to improve product licensing based on customer needs and feedback. The latest version of the tool now allows automatic license activation via the internet. Once a user has received the software installation and licensing files from Corelis, the software may be activated 24/7 without needing to interact with the Corelis support department.

“We decided on FlexNet for a large number of reasons, the largest being the extended capability of FlexNet over our existing system,” said Anita Pawlak, VP of Operations at Corelis. “The superior flexibility now allows Corelis to deliver special licenses, such as demo or temporary licenses, to our customers more quickly and easily. We also see FlexNet as a widespread industry licensing platform which aids our customers’ understanding of the licensing management and methodologies supported by Corelis.”

In addition to its existing hardware key option which requires a physical USB security device attached to the computer, Corelis will deploy two license options with the FlexNet Publisher system: Single-User Software-Based and Multi-User Networked-Based. The Single-User Software-Based license removes the requirement of a physical security device, but instead requires a software-based license activation process that will enable the licensed application(s) on a specific computer. The Multi-User Networked-Based license is often called a “floating” license where the licenses are installed on a central server and can be accessed concurrently by any number of client computers up to the number of network licenses available.
