Corelis Selects FlexNet Publisher for Licensing Distribution

New licensing platform provides more flexibility over software deployment.

Cerritos, CA, November 3, 2009 – Corelis, Inc., a leading supplier of high-performance boundary-scan test and measurement tools, announced today that it has chosen Flexera’s FlexNet Publisher® as its primary licensing tool for all of its software products. FlexNet Publisher represents over 20 years of research and development in addressing the licensing requirements of both users and publishers of software applications. The FlexNet Publisher licensing system translates into a greatly increased capability of Corelis to improve product licensing based on customer needs and feedback. The latest version of the tool now allows automatic license activation via the internet. Once a user has received the software installation and licensing files from Corelis, the software may be activated 24/7 without needing to interact with the Corelis support department.

“We decided on FlexNet for a large number of reasons, the largest being the extended capability of FlexNet over our existing system,” said Anita Pawlak, VP of Operations at Corelis. “The superior flexibility now allows Corelis to deliver special licenses, such as demo or temporary licenses, to our customers more quickly and easily. We also see FlexNet as a widespread industry licensing platform which aids our customers’ understanding of the licensing management and methodologies supported by Corelis.”

In addition to its existing hardware key option which requires a physical USB security device attached to the computer, Corelis will deploy two license options with the FlexNet Publisher system: Single-User Software-Based and Multi-User Networked-Based. The Single-User Software-Based license removes the requirement of a physical security device, but instead requires a software-based license activation process that will enable the licensed application(s) on a specific computer. The Multi-User Networked-Based license is often called a “floating” license where the licenses are installed on a central server and can be accessed concurrently by any number of client computers up to the number of network licenses available.

Corelis Broadens Processor Support for Functional Test

Freescale, Intel, and others join the ScanExpress JET processor library list.

Cerritos, CA, September 10, 2009
– Corelis recently reached a milestone in processor functional test support by breaking the 1,000 processor barrier in its ScanExpress JTAG Embedded Test (JET) library. The company announced that key processor families such as Freescale Power Architecture™ and Intel Atom™ are now available. A complete listing of processor support is available on the Corelis website.

ScanExpress JET is a functional test pattern generator, debugger, tester, and exerciser tool for microprocessors with on-chip debug features accessible through their JTAG port. The tool can be used as a stand-alone functional test station or in conjunction with traditional boundary-scan test techniques. This means that sound structural tests for opens and shorts can be performed via boundary-scan while at-speed functional testing can be performed using the CPU to run test programs loaded into memory. ScanExpress JET can even run functional tests and diagnose faulty boards even when the embedded CPU is not able to boot and the board self test is not operational.

Ryan Jones, Senior Technical Marketing Engineer at Corelis, states, “When ScanExpress JET was first announced at the ITC conference in 2006, we naturally included processor architecture support from our emulation line of products that we had developed over the last two decades, such as PowerPC®, ARM®, and MIPS®. Since that time, we have worked vigorously with key microprocessor manufacturers to ensure the JET product has the latest, most popular processor technology available. As the continuously growing list nears 1,100 processors, Corelis is clearly paving the road for embedded functional testing through the JTAG port.”

“Embedded functional testing is a key component in the growth of Corelis,” says George B. La Fever, CEO and President at Corelis. We have put significant effort towards the expansion of functional test processor support for our JTAG Embedded Test product line. Our core competency in developing boundary-scan and emulation products allows us to add reliable processor support with minimal risk and turn-around time. The ability for us to continually deepen our processor library at such an aggressive pace clearly differentiates Corelis from other solutions.”

Corelis Extends ScanDIMM™ Family to Include DDR3 Support

Two new DDR3 ScanDIMM™ modules provide extended boundary-scan testabilityand complete fault isolation when testing DDR3 DIMM sockets.

Cerritos, CA, August 13, 2009 – Corelis has released two DDR3 ScanDIMM modules which provide interconnect testability solutions for DDR3 sockets. Inserting the ScanDIMM into the DIMM socket of a UUT results in placing a fully bi-directional boundary-scan cell behind each pin of the DIMM connector, increasing the test coverage to include not only data and address signal pins, but also clock, control, and all power and ground pins. Utilizing this improved cell architecture, test pattern generation tools, such as Corelis’ ScanExpress TPG, can apply the most optimal diagnostic algorithms to clearly isolate any failure under investigation.

DDR3 is the premier, high-performance memory solution for CPU systems pushing the envelope in key areas like power consumption, signaling speeds, and bandwidth, while bringing new levels of performance to desktop, notebook, and server computing. DDR3 supports data rates of 1333 to 1600 MT/s, with clock frequencies of 667 to 800 MHz respectively, providing superior performance over DDR2. In addition, DDR3’s standard 1.5V supply voltage cuts power consumption by up to 30% over DDR2.

Ryan Jones, Senior Technical Marketing Engineer at Corelis states, “DDR3 has gained significant market acceptance for a wide range of circuit board applications, effectively driving demand for a DDR3 boundary-scan test solution. The DDR3 ScanDIMM modules are indicative of Corelis’ commitment to providing a complete arsenal of boundary-scan test tools to meet that demand.”

DDR3 ScanDIMM modules are fully compatible with Corelis’ ScanExpress family of software products and come complete with all necessary cabling. 240-pin and 204-pin form factors are offered with both standard and mirrored pin-outs available in the 204-pin package. They conform to JEDEC mechanical specifications, MO-269F and MO-268C respectively, and are available from stock with a list price of $1,500.
